| I have two more optometry interview's left. There is a school that is 4.5 hours away from Virginia and the last year and a half of school I can probably do in Virginia. This would mean that Andrew and I would only be living apart for 2.5 years...instead of four. I am just weighing the options, since right now no decision has been made. I tried out for a part in Sweeney Todd and didn't get it...ahhh, so frustrating. The part was for a soprano, blonde hair, mid-twenties. I had a great audition and the director knew who I was. What's with all the disappointments lately. OK, we did have TWO snow days and I really needed the mental health days. | | |
| Around 8:30 I got a phone call from Andrew to call him back. I knew it was about his match in ophthalmology. I was very anxious to find out if he had matched or not. His tone in his voice sounded positive when he left the message to call him back, so I was curious. I called him back and he said that he matched, only he matched in Richmond, VA (which is no where near an optometry school...which is what I want to go back to school to do). You know, I had it all planned out (which I would advise against doing), but in one instant those plans were turned around and I find myself without a plan. I am so excited that he matched, but wondering how I am going to put my schooling on hold for another 4 years. Wow, I am really having a pity party. Actually we did go out an celebrate because now Andrew gets to actually do what he wants to do...cut people's eyes open. It is a very competitive speciality, and he is frankly lucky just to get a match. Praises and prayers to God for getting us this far, and I am looking forward to the adventures ahead of us (you know Richmond is only 2 hours from the beach? God was listening to those prayers!). So, we will stay in Springfield for another year and head out to Richmond in 2008. Andrew starts July 2008. The dogs are coming too, of course! | | |
| You all were very right...I am a task person and enjoy being busy. Since my "week of boredom" I am now teaching tennis for a few hours a day. At night I go to AIDA rehearsal (which if you are interested in seeing visit www.themuni.org). My big news is that I tried out for CATS which is playing at the Hoogland Center of the Arts in Springfield (early October) and I actually have a named character!! I am really excited about this one, but CATS is kinda a wierd production.
Andrew got a month's clerkship down in Birmingham, AL studing retinal and vitreous surgery during Sept and Oct. Otherwise he is doing well and he just finished year 3 of med school. Yay!!
We will know by March of next year where we will be!
I am learning a lot about my self this summer...like for instance, foods I will never give up, even if I diet: french fries, cheesecake, and chocolate. I ordered take out at this local restaurant and I was totally mesmerized at the guy in the kitchen who was placing tong-fulls of freshly fried french fries on customers' plates. I unfortunately (or fortunately for my hips) had ordered a salad.
| Summer Vacation is here! I really don't know what to do with myself now. I find myself getting up around 7:30, making breakfast, and then...going back to bed because I am bored out of my mind. Doing "catch-up laundry" is not my cup of tea. I will be teaching tennis, studying for the optometry admissions test, and practicing for the springfield Muni' Aida this summer. So here in a little bit I will be busy again...ahhh...that's more like it now. I do like being busy...is there something wrong with me?
Also, I would be perfectly fine if we didn't have cable...now my husband on the other hand, he would really miss those Cardinals.
| Indy was nice...except for the final day of our trip. We headed out to the car in the garage underneath the hotel with all of our 12 bags (it was 2 girls and a one week trip- what else do you expect)...and I noticed my back triangluar window of my car was smashed and the car had been broken into. I cried, called the police, fussed with the manager of the garage and the hotel, but no one would take responsibility for this unfortunate event--not even my school would help me with the $100 deductible from my insurance...
ok...done complaining.
2 more days until finals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a little excited.
Ok...here's my latest garage sale "steals": A Magnavox DVD player for $5, an RCA CD/tape player with 2 stereos for $5, 3 paintings to hang in our kitchen for $20, 2 free red painted benches for the garden, 1 free wooden picnic table that andrew and I carried 2 blocks because it wouldn't fit in the jeep, 1 25 cent binoculars, 1 cute ceramic bowl for i think $3, and a $1 padlock. I should switch jobs to a "deal finder" or "dumpster diver". Actually the free red painted benches were out on the corner, and the picnic table had a free sign on it.
